Nurturing Growth, Empowering Lives and Alleviating Poverty by Supporting Higher Education.

Shukre Ilahi is a group of volunteers with a mission to help underprivileged students to achieve their goals by offering financial assistance to support their higher education.

Who we are

Shukre Ilahi is a volunteer run Canadian charity, with a Board of Directors and a dedicated group of volunteers who recognize the role of education as the gift that keeps on giving. We believe that by helping to remove financial barriers, individuals have a greater chance of reaching their full potential and improving their quality of life.

Brief history of Shukre Ilahi

The Shukre Ilahi Scholarship fund was initiated nearly two decades ago in New Jersey, USA by Amir and Farhat Biviji. They recognized the need to empower underprivileged students through a scholarship fund, changing the lives of over a thousand individuals. In 2008, the Charity expanded to Canada and has since raised over $1.5M dollars emphasizing a passion for education. In 2021, the Bivijs decided to wind down the US operation. Today, the charity continues in Canada, supported by our Canadian, US and global donors.  It has successfully navigated the challenges posed by the pandemic and is incorporated as a not-for-profit organization, and a registered Canadian charity.

Vision

Our vision is to nurture growth, empower lives and alleviate poverty.

Mission

Shukre Ilahi’s mission is to financially support, promote and encourage higher educational pursuits of young members of our community who otherwise would not have the necessary means. We see higher education as a catalyst, an agent of change, for individuals, families, communities and society at large.

How to Volunteer

Interested in volunteering? We need volunteers for special events (eg. our Walk-a-Thon) or on an ongoing basis to help with different parts of the team. Shukre Ilahi is a completely volunteer run organization, which ensures that pretty much every cent we raise goes towards our education grant programs.

Please fill in the sheet below and we will be in touch when volunteer needs open up. Thank you for offering to volunteer for this awesome cause.

Canadian high school volunteers can get volunteer hour credits for their volunteer hours.
